Argumento:

PROLOG OF THE ENIGMA OF THE LOST LABYRINTH
I share the prolog of my novel The Enigma of the Lost Labyrinth. I hope you like it.
1920, Hawara
The
couple’s feet sank into the sand as they ran hand in hand. They were
overwhelmed by distress, an anguish fed by the survival instinct. With their
hearts beating at breakneck speed, they rushed toward the entrance of the
labyrinth.
Meanwhile, the chief of the Medjays was lying dead on
the sand surrounded by the group. One of them let out a war cry, his voice
cracking with pain. Anger was unleashed among them and they began to pursue the
couple. The lovers glanced backwards and saw the Desert men advancing toward
them, many of them galloping on horseback and wielding weapons.
“Run, darling, they’re close,” the man said, his heart
in his mouth.
“I can’t anymore,” the woman replied, exhausted,
breathless.
Suddenly, the Medjays opened fire on them. Their
furious cries filled the air, creating a terrifying atmosphere. A bullet
brushed the man’s arm, and his companion screamed. He grabbed her hand and
pulled her up to flee. The attackers kept shooting at them, and they, breathing
hard, began to dodge the bullets. The woman stopped, putting her hand on her
side, seized by a sharp pain. The man, seeing the Medjays getting closer and
closer, lifted her in his arms and started running as fast as he could as if he
were a cheetah with its prey on its shoulders. When he reached the entrance of
the labyrinth and was about to rush inside, she pointed to their things near
the steps.
“Our bags!” she yelled.
He put her down, gesturing for her to go into the
ancient monument. Taking their backpacks he hurried inside, following her
without glancing backwards.
The Medjays reached the entrance and stopped in front
of it. One of them, the new chief, gazed at the monument and its surroundings. For
a moment he was lost in thought. Afterwards, his eyes blazed with demonic fury
and he pointed toward a huge rock.
“They’ll never get out of here! Seal the entrance!” he
ordered.
In the meantime, the couple kept running, descending
to the center of the labyrinth in the dark. Suddenly, a thunderous crash made
them stop short. The man took a flashlight out and shone it along the passage.
“What was that?” the woman asked nervously.
“I have no idea, but I think that the crash came from
the entrance.”
They turned round and began to run to the exit,
breathing hard as they climbed back up the passage. When they got there, they
found out that there was no exit. Something rocky was sealing the only path
that led to the outside world.
“We’re trapped.” She yelled feeling tightness in her
chest.
He hit the stone, furiously, and as he thought about
what was happening it made his blood boil.
“Damn them!” he shouted infuriated. Then, he took a
deep breath and turned toward her. “Don’t worry, my love. I swear we’ll get out
of here.”
They embraced in the dark with their hearts pumping
faster and faster in their chests, shrouded in a miasma of fear.
