Today is the birthday of my favorite
actor Brendan Fraser, the purest man I have ever met in my life. I want to
write these lines not only because it is his birthday but also because his
return to the big screen has given the Brenaissance movement a strong rebirth
and I want to join this support.
When I see these things on social media
I cannot help smiling and saying:
“Wow!
It’s amazing and wonderful at the same time!”
I wonder how many people have this
sticker: “Honk if you'd rather be watching the 1999
cinematic masterpiece "the mummy" starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel
Weisz.”
“It’s perfect!”
He
deserves all the best and I am happy to see all the support he has because he
is a GREAT actor and a good man. It
is exciting to know that he is working with Martin Scorsese and that he has
already started filming on the movie Batgirl
where he will play Firefly. Here, in Spain,
we love him too and Rick O’Connell is a myth just as the Mummy trilogy.
I have admired Fraser’s work since I was
a child and I have seen all of his movies and I know that he is a very
versatile actor and he can do whatever he wants because art runs through his
veins. Most people also admire his ability to recover, including me. He has had
difficulties and adversities but he has recovered from all of them and is back
with a wide smile.
Proof of his high-mindedness (bonhomie)
is what his The Mummy co-stars, Erick
Avari, Patricia Velazquez and Jonathan Hyde, said about him in a public online interview
for galaxycon. I asked them: “How was it working with Brendan Fraser?” and they
all replied: “He’s a sweet heart.”
Patricia
Velásquez: “One thing I
remember about Brendan is: My mom doesn’t speak English and, when we shot The Mummy 2, she came with me. Brendan
is a family man who really connected
with my mom. He made sure she was OK, he talked to her and they tried to
communicate with each other. He is a
gentleman, a kind man. He was very warming for my mom and for all of us.”
She said with a broadly smile.
Eric
Avari: “He’s a strong man too.” He said. He told an
anecdote about the filming of The Mummy
between laughs that I do not tell because I could not understand it well and I
do not remember it. I know he said that when he saw Brendan they spent hours
and hours chatting.
At last, in my closing remarks: Brendan, I wish you a Happy Birthday, I wish you happiness,
health, success and all the best. I hope to see you on the screen a thousand more
times. Thank you for giving us your Art and for giving us your kind-hearted
heart. THANK YOU!
Here I am attaching a video that I made
several years ago to wish him a Happy Birthday with images of some of his best
movies. I hope you like it.
